She loves me In the morning We go walking We go walking Over mountain Meadow, forest, stream She watches The horizon With her brown eyes With her brown eyes For the winding path That leads towards her dream Then she looks at me and laughs At my foolish expectations For the day I love her In the evening As she’s sleeping She’s sleeping She looks peaceful Content to stay for a while Restless After midnight She goes wandering In her dreams Dressed in shadow And a Mona Lisa smile But she shakes the mist off her shoulders And brings that smile back to me And it’s haunting in the starlight But she’s where she wants to be And she loves me In the morning She leaves me Just as easily As she loves me In the morning She looks sad and tired But content to be on her way She’ll cross the Arno by afternoon Far beyond my expectations For the day

There’s a dragon down on Main St. So it’s kind of hard to think There’s an old man in the kitchen Searching for a drink Dragon peers through every window Old man poking through your drawer And you and I just stand here Like a thousand times before The dragon belches smoke and fire Which mixes with the rain The old man finds your whiskey Sits and talks about his pain He falls into a dream of hurricanes Cigarette falls to the ground The storm surge moves in quickly And sinks the whole damn town Raise your hands as you go under Cry hallelujah over the thunder Give your mind to fear and wonder At the beauty of it all As we fall And we fall so hard The old man tumbles down Main St. As our house goes up in flames The dragon finds a quiet corner Finally tired of dragon games You and I stand undecided Though we know how all this ends Tame the old man, slay the dragon Or the other way around, it all depends. Raise your hands as you go under Cry hallelujah over the thunder Give your mind to fear and wonder At the beauty of it all As we fall And we fall so Hard Raise your hands as you go under Any last minute hallelujah is crushed by the thunder Give your mind to fear and wonder At the beauty of it all As we fall And we fall so Take my hand as we go under Whisper, Don't give up over the thunder Give your mind to fear and wonder At the beauty of it all Oh, the beauty of it all

Dirty World 05:08
Step out the door and there’s mud on your shoes The fog conceals a crime at once unspeakable and bland The mystery confronting you is buried deep in clues You try to understand but you don’t understand It’s a dirty world You walk down the street, worried about The dye in your clothes and the mileage of your car How to stand out from The faceless crowd As your echo chamber screams You should be where you are It’s a dirty world It’s crime scene There’s no innocence here You can’t look on stay clean Can’t mind your own business passing Lafayette Square Oka is still raging And always has been You can’t slip safely by With a vacant stare It’s a dirty world It’s crime scene It’s dirty world No one’s hands are clean Did Your mother bear the weight Of your father’s sins And the bruises . . . And the shitty things he did That people do when they win So everybody loses Did the forest pay the price of that drive for more Or was it holding up the road Did your hometown lose its soul to the big box store That grew up where that highway flowed It’s a dirty world A crime scene It’s dirty world No one’s hands are clean I’m going to take me down to the river Try to wash these sins away Sit myself under a big old tree If I can find one And stay Isn’t that the way To make it go away? We’re terrified of the future But silent about the past We swear we’ll quit tomorrow As we chug back gasoline I’ve got to have that package And I’ve got to have it fast It’s the newest cardinal sin To pretend that want is need It’s a dirty world It’s a greasy machine It’s dirty world No one’s hands are clean It’s a dirty world A crime scene It’s dirty world No one’s hands are clean

Comfort 03:59
Another stranger passing through While your lover wasn’t home With all this coming and going Wine and laughter flowing How are you alone A thousand miles of broken road Stretch out from me to you But I can hear the music And I can see the bruises And I don’t know what to do And you’re covered in kisses And lifted by the breeze But kisses are hard to hold And the wind will leave you falling to your knees Wild as an accident Hard as glass on cold cement Tangled as a fallen angels wings Candle in a windowpane Jacket drying in the rain Straining for the song tomorrow sings The street took you back Without a second glance Gave back your old doorway Sit and talk about the old days And another second chance And your smothered in blank stares And cradled in the arms Of the bench you fell asleep on With an angry sigh and the lullaby of passing cars Wild as an accident Hard as glass on cold cement Tangled as a fallen angels wings Candle in a windowpane Jacket drying in the rain Straining for the song tomorrow sings I want you close again Every time you go And if comfort was easy You’d already know

Crash land in Kitsilano In the deep dark summer time See the storefronts glow Read the earthling street signs West Broadway and Maple Your mother cried golden tears left a blessing on your brow Feel your father’s hand on your shoulder even now So goes the fable See how your path has led you here See your home town when the night is clear Welcome to the city I know it’s wild and pretty by the sea When you walk along the water front In the evening when the lights come on Come on, come on, the future calls Let’s dance along these empty halls and away And I know that you’ll save Lois Lane And tell the truth to Mary Jane And I know you know how to save a life I could stand here for days and days Way too proud and way too amazed West Broadway and Maple I'd do almost anything To keep you here by my side Watch you grow, watch you learn to fly If I were able And I can talk for hours About your superpowers Welcome to the city I know it’s wild and pretty by the sea When you walk along the water front In the evening when the lights come on Come on, come on, the future calls Let’s dance along these empty halls and away And I know that you’ll save Lois Lane And tell the truth to Mary Jane And I know you know how to save a life And it’s single camera Fourth wall down Second fiddle to a third rate clown If that’s what led you here who’s to say you would have made it any other way Welcome cry the city lights sometimes dark and sometimes bright, by now you know How they sparkle in a falling tear Your home’s there and your home’s here Come on, come on, the future calls Smash through windows and punch through walls and away Sometimes Lois saves herself And Mary Jane marries someone else And all this time I know you’re saving lives

Of the Night 03:33
I’m hella tired, Mr. Price A blanket and a pillow, and a dark corner would be nice I’m hella tired, Mr. Teacher You drag me in at 9 a.m. but I’m a creature Of the night My mother cried the night I was born The sun went down and my father smiled She said, I’m sorry to do this to you My heart is strong but I may lose you, child The valley is dry Where the river should flow The forests burn The mountain are all laid low I’m hella bored, Mr. Price My heart’s on fire but my head feels like ice I’m hella bored, Mr. Teacher You worship here but I am a preacher Of the night I’m the pile of broken glass and 5 bucks missing from your ride I’m a stumbling shadow, cigarette in the dark That lost phone feeling you feel deep inside I’m lemon gin and a piss in the park A leak in your ceiling A stain on your floor Been flying all night Now I’m crashing at your door I’m hella angry, Mr. Price I don’t understand what I’m doing here I’m hella angry, Mr. Teacher Didn’t raise my hand, I didn’t volunteer For this fight I’m hella tired, Mr. Price A pillow and a blanket and lullaby would be nice

about

Most of this work was done at home, in my basement. I have an abiding love for my family, and I have a huge fear of what humans are doing to our world. Both of these are important themes run through this humble collection. There's a bonus track available only to those who purchase the album through Bandcamp. Thanks for checking it out.
